Set in a beautiful location on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal where the barges can moor up alongside. The pub has been at the centre of the local community since the turn of the century, even playing a part in the local defence in the area during World War 2. The two storey tower you will see adjacent to their car park entrance was actually built as a gun tower and was manned to defend against invasion via air or the canal system.
