Grasshopper70 Sandon Road
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic this pub is currently offering additional services:
The safety of our customers is paramount to us at The Grasshopper. We have endeavoured to operate in a Covid secure manner and have followed all Government guidance. We are pleased to say that we have had no incidents of infection of staff or customers. However, with the rapidly increasing infection rate locally we feel that it would only be a matter of time before a customer is exposed to the virus. We have decided to put customer safety ahead of profit and we have taken the difficult decision to close for a short period. We will review the situation in 2 week’s time. We will continue to offer free home delivery for fresh real ale, real cider and wine via our on-line shop. Our delivery area is extended to include all of Ainsdale, Hillside and Birkdale and other homes within 2.5 miles of the Grasshopper. North Merseyside Pub of the Year 2018 and Cider Pub of the Year 2020. This micro pub opened in March 2016 in what used to be an old Martins Bank branch until 1978 (the logo of Martins bank was a grasshopper). It is situated in the row of shops close to Hillside train station. There is outdoor seating at the front of the pub and a secluded Beer Garden to the rear. Eight changing real ales and six real ciders are served. Oversized pint glasses are available on request. The pub hosts monthly meetings of CoLAPs (Coast of Lancashire Ale Preservation Society) on the first Monday of each month which feature regular speakers on beer related topics. CAMRA members are welcome to attend.
