A Wetherspoon pub in a former Conservative Club. The name was chosen by Southport Visitor readers who were asked to put in suggestions and they chose The Lifeboat named after the Lighthouse whose former keeper was also in charge of Formby's Lifeboat Station in 1831 supposedly the first in the world. The light in the lighthouse was finally switched off in 1839 and pulled down during the second world war. The pub opened in July 2016 has a very nice outside seating area at the back of the pub and an open kitchen where you can see the cooks all cooking your meal. They have 12 hand pumps on so you can expect a good range of real ale.
