Chistmas Social to Chester via Trian.

Train Leaves Southport at 10:43; Birkdale 10:47, Hillside 10:49; Ainsdale 10:42, Freshfield; Formby 10:58. Meet in the middle carriage. Arrive at Liverpool Central at 11:29 and proceed to the lower level Wirral Line for the 11:45 to Chester.

On arrival at Chester walk across the road to our firstport of call THE TOWN CRIER which has three cask ales and food. Moving on turn right and right again into City Road and then turn right at the Belgrave Hotel into Crewe Streer, past the Bridgewater Arms go right to the end, turn left at the terraced houses onto Egerton Street to THE UNION VAULT on the corner. There are six real ales. On leaving turn left into Milton Street and after about 30 yards, our next call, the MILL HOTEL AND SPAR is on the left. Inside there is a large room on the right with up to ten cast ales. Food is also served.

Leave onto Millton St and go past The Stanley Arms, over the Bridge Road by the traffic lights towards Iceland. Go over the bridge and down on the left is THE LOCK KEEPER with up to three cask ales and food. Back up onto the road there is THE ODDFELLOWS ARMS which may have a cask ale. Continuing down the road turn right and at the T junction on the right there is the KINGS HEAD with three cask ales and food.

A litle way along there are some steps down to THE BREWERY TAP with seven cask ales and food. Leave and go back up to the traffic lights, turn right and go under Chester City Wall Gateway and on the left is OFF THE WALL with two cask ales and food. Staying on the same road and passing the Roman ruins on the right is Little St John. Go along and on the right is BREWHOUSE AND KITCHEN with eight cask ales and food. Turning right out of the building and back to the traffic lights and down to the right, on the right is THE SQUARE BOTTLE (Wetherspoons) with four cask ales and food. Turn right and go down the subway on leaving, towards Chester station and a safe journey home. Trains for Liverpool leave on the hour and half hour.
